There’s 3 ways to be seen…

The way you see yourself.

The way others see you.

And the way you think others see you.

There’s a lot to be said about how we feel in this remote working world. Its been almost two years since the world of work went remote so its not exactly new. Sadly, it hardly ever comes up in conversation anymore. The ‘new norm’.

The language we use can trick people into thinking that all this is normal. The daily rush. Daily firefighting at work and home. It’s all ‘normal’. Not for me. Just because we experiencing the same thing, doesn’t make it ‘normal’.

The daily grind to the weekend. We seem to live for the weekend. I’m not convinced that’s the kind of ‘living’ I want or need right now.

Being a freelancer in the past taught me my days are intertwined. For me, it’s not about getting through Monday to Friday. For me, every single day means something versus a Monday to Friday kinda dying which stood out to me when I went back to working for someone. I guess that’s the difference between sustaining your own income versus helping someone else build theirs.

When your work becomes more than just a job, but rather a daily bread not only financially but emotionally too... well, that’s the sweet spot! It takes hard work and perseverance to build that world for yourself. Not everyone has the grit for that.

Is our perception of others and ourselves skewed in this remote pandemic world?

Before this, I was a different person. Now it feels like others who never knew me in the past, only see what they see now. A scared individual who doesn’t want to socialise. Who’s maybe too serious.

Is that really the way others see me? Or is that just how I think others see me?

How do you see yourself.

How do others see you.

How do you think others see you.

Most importantly… which one matters most to you?
